Willow Rattle Making Workshop
Come spend the afternoon weaving a willow rattle with Mo Hohmann of Woven Thresholds Willow Craft. This spiral-like, 'corn dolly' weave will mesmerize the maker. Make a rattle for yourself, for a little one in your life, or for life yet to come. Participants will learn some about the willow garden bed that grows at FinnRiver and the rhythms of growing and tending willow for basketry.
We will spend time practicing the weave with softer material before working with the willow. No prior willow weaving experience is necessary, but this weave does ask for a fair amount of hand and finger strength.
Participants are invited to bring 5 or so objects to place inside of your willow rattle - think bells, rocks, shells, special things that will bring magical sound and meaning to your rattle - bigger than a dime and smaller than a nickel that won't shatter when shaken. There will also be objects provided for folks to add so not necessary to bring your own.
