Come and weave your own Basket Satchel in this fun 2 day workshop with local basket weaver, Nicole Larson. Using various barks(Willow, Maple, Cherry or Cedar) you will learn how to create a sturdy and functional satchel to carry your basic essentials in style. Using Willow bark as the main foundation, you will have the choice of barks and leafy materials(Cattail, Iris or Daylily) to create your unique patterns and design. Depending on your skill level you may choose to simplify your design or weave a more advanced twill pattern. Nicole will guide and teach various techniques depending on your comfort level. All materials are gathered and processed sustainably and respectfully by Nicole from her tended wild gardens. The natural variety and textures of different barks add to the uniqueness of each satchel. Included in this workshop is a cotton canvas zippered liner and a leather strap in which you will learn how to sew on to complete your satchel. Some handwork or weaving experience is recommended. Approximate size: 7” x 6” x 2”
