Whidbey Island meditation teacher and writer Kurt Hoelting and local poet and writing teacher Holly J. Hughes team up to offer a three-hour mindfulness & writing workshop as we head into fall. At this time of growing darkness, equinox is a rich time for reflecting on the inner and outer wild—both personally and as a nation-- and the challenges ahead. Together, we’ll explore mindfulness practice, walk mindfully in the Finnriver orchard, and respond to a choice of writing invitations. Our discussion and writing prompts will be informed by samples from both instructors’ published writing, including Kurt’s recent essay collection, Apprentice to the Wild.’ All levels of experience welcome; no writing or meditation experience necessary. Registration for the workshop includes a token for a free cider; after, we hope you’ll join us for dinner and Kurt’s evening reading from Apprentice to the Wild. Copies will be available at the workshop and the reading and are also available in advance at Imprint Bookshop in Port Townsend.
