Knit Your First Cabled Hat!
Thursdays, January 16, 23, and 30, 2025 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Finnriver Farm & Cidery, Chimacum

Are you a knitter who loves the look of those intricate braided-looking cables on hats, scarves and sweaters? They look complicated, but they’re not! Join certified knitting instructor Karen Anderson for a fun class that will get you knitting those impressive cables in no time. During the three class sessions you'll learn the German Twisted cast on method to create a stretchy hat brim, how to join to knit in the round, how to use a cable needle to create cable stitches, how to knit in a small diameter with double-pointed needles, how to read written and charted cable instructions, and how to finish and block your hat for best results. The class fee is $96 ($32/class) and includes six hours of hands-on instruction, a copy of the Antler Toque hat pattern, a skein of beautiful 100% wool yarn made in the US, a set of birch cable needles, a few stitch markers, and a drink token for a Finnriver beverage of your choice each class!

There will be a variety of yarn colors to choose from in class. To get the most out of the class you should already know how to cast stitches onto a needle, and how to form knit and purl stitches. Previous experience with hat knitting is not required. Please bring the following items with you to class: one US #6, 16” circular needle, one US #8, 16” circular needle and a set of US #8 double-pointed needles for small diameter circular knitting.
